While the Redl Properties business impact has been significant, Herb and his wife Sue’s appreciation and support of the region defines him best. Herb Redl was one of the founders of the Dutchess Community Economic External Marketing Council and has served on the boards or affiliated boards at Vassar Hospital, The Bardavon Theater, Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, Mid Hudson Savings Bank, First Fidelity and First Union, to name a few – while donating financial support to many important interests, including the March of Dimes and the American Heart Association. Herb also serves as a Walkway Ambassador for the Walkway Over the Hudson.
Each of the Redl Properties businesses themselves are invested in the community with annual charitable events benefiting organizations throughout the Hudson Valley. A few examples of this are All Sport’s annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life event along with Guardian Storage, who annually celebrates a decade-long partnership with Dutchess Outreach and Dutchess Food Banks.
As a family, the Redl’s donated 30 acres in Pleasant Valley to be used for a recreation park and resource for families of all ages to use and enjoy and the Herb and Sue Ann Redl Center for Cancer Care at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital (formerly Saint Francis Hospital) will include offices and exam rooms for cancer care specialists, expanded women’s health services and space for health, exercise and wellness programs. In addition, the family has helped with Vassar Brothers Medical Center, including the spacious, comfortably appointed Redl Infusion Therapy Center in the Dyson Center for Cancer Care, along with the purchase of state of the art equipment and the Redl Family Foyer that welcomes patients.
